The TransLogic/Powers/Grover/etc Linear Exchanger

Front

Back

If you have one of these, you understand Jurassic. There are way too many moving parts, carriers arrive too hard for specimens or blood products, and the mechanics are very slow to move a carrier from the inbound storage onto the chute.

But don’t throw it away! Just throw away the parts inside the red boxes. With the right—and slight—modifications this exchanger was made to do everything the client wanted. Look at how simple it is now (left). Photo optics and pneumatic cylinders make it work faster, smoother and reliably. We threw away about 400 lb. of greasy scrap iron.

The system now runs 600 to 800 carriers a day. The alarms—zero to two a day—are limited to user caused problems and a few pre-existing mechanical devices not addressed as part of the upgrade.
