ASCI overhauled the two exchangers with many control and mechanical improvements: n Replaced mechanical switches with photo-optics n Rebuilt most of the moving parts of the storage devices. n Replaced the Ledex solenoid windgates with pneumatic cylinder actuators. n Replaced the custom built ATC and Quantum controls with off-the-shelf industrial products (above, right) |

Twin 4”x7” linear exchangers. They have 8 lanes each (7 in use) with triple storage in each lane. The system could have about 70 carriers in transit at a time. The Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN still uses these because nothing else will handle the volume. (Some tube companies find this very upsetting!) |
