Quantum Systems—Windgates |

|
The electric solenoid windgates have their problems. They snap open and closed so fast that they literally ‘fly to pieces’. The internal hardened steel shaft snaps...and replacement is not a trivial procedure. One client put a large resistor in series with the solenoid coil to slow it down! It got so hot it would burn you. Also, the solenoids cost about $100 from the manufacturer. (The original vendor, Quantum, is out of business.) |

The ASCI upgrade replaces the solenoid with an air cylinder and crank as shown. A needle valve controls the extension speed. It’s very smooth, positive and even quiet. You can buy the cylinder downtown for about $20...if you ever need to. But you will never again have to replace a broken shaft. |
